Save the Planet

Good Morning Parents,

The world as we know it has been through tremendous changes and hardships. We have to remember that our kids and all upcoming generations are the future of the world. It is our responsibility to inspire change. We need to start making it second nature to save the planet. It is imperative that we teach them while they are young so they can become aware of where they live. Although our kids are in 2nd grade, we shouldn’t overwhelm them with information but we should definitely make them more knowledgeable about what we can do to cherish and protect our earth.

As you can see on this infographic, there are a few things we can start doing both in classrooms and at home as a start of saving the planet. Now, It is no secret that technology is advancing and our kids are attached to their devices. However, remember to set a time where they go outside and perhaps take a walk or ride their bike. They will start to take notice of the things around them and learn to appreciate it more. Additionally, if you are able to, take them out to local farms or gardens at your local park. It is important that they are exposed to all the world has to offer. Of course we will be taking them on field trips but parents must do their part as well.

In the classrooms, we are recycling and teaching the kids to pick up after themselves. We will start to separate paper, plastic and general waste. I encourage parents to start doing the same at home or at least explaining the benefits of doing so. Our world is currently covered in so much litter, now is the time where we start teaching our little ones the harm it does to our earth. Any moment the time presents itself, try to remind them that littering is not the answer.

Today, we have managed to reduce the use of plastic in some states, but that is not enough. It is our job to inspire our children so they are able to fight for themselves in the future, so they have a world to strive in. Along with that, it is our job to inform our kids about what’s going on around the world. These are all small steps that will lead to bigger changes. Make them watch the news, tell them about the wildfires, the oceans and the animals. Knowledge is power.
